FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I already have birth support people? How is a doula still essential?

Having a birth professional present at your birth who is solely focused on you, holding a sacred safe place for you to birth in. With knowledge on how to support you to prevent unnecessary intervention or interruption that can have a negative affect on your birthing experience, is an investment that every client i speak to years on is so greatful they did.
The difference in your doula and your birthing partner/husband is that your husband is there to shower you with love and touch that produces all those oxytocin love hormones that are incredible and a must for birth. While your doula brings evidence based knowledge, calm, and guidance to support you in navigating the maternity system. Your doula will create the beautiful environment that labour thrives in and bring in all the tools and tricks for that to happen, so your birth partner/husband isn't entering the birth with a million things to do, he can just be in the moment with you, while the doula takes on the rest, whilst holding you too, it's what we are trained to do.

When do I need to hire a doula?

You can hire a doula at any point in your pregnancy, but it is highly beneficial to book your doula sooner rather than later. We book out quickly and have only a few spots a month available. The more time you give yourself to connect with me allows us time to build that strong, trust and aligned relationship. The relationship sets the foundation for your birth.

How can I book with you?

I offer a free no obligation meet and greet in the comfort of your own home or place of choice.
There we can meet and discuss your plans, wants and needs for your labour and birth.
This is where we set the foundation of our relationship and see if we align with each other.

After our meeting I allow you to have some time to speak with your birth partner/husband to discuss if I'm the right fit for you.

If you wish to go ahead and book me as your doula, I will then email my service agreement and a 50% deposit is to be paid at time of signing, so that I can block out your date and reserve your spot on my calendar. Other potential clients who request my services that are close to your date are then declined and referred on to other doulas.

What if you can't attend my birth?

In rare circumstances where I am unable to attend your birth due to unforseeable circumstances. A back up doula will be assigned to you to support you in your birth. The back up doula will be given all your relevant birth documentation, birth plan and birth preferences, so she can provide you with the support as planned.

What types of birth do you support?

No person is the same, no birth is the same. Everyone is on a different path and everyone has their own desired birth plans and dreams.
I don't offer support to one specific type of birth.
I support physiological, unmedicated, medicated, private, public, home birth and caesarean births. However you want your birth to look, I will support!

Your body, Your birth, Your baby, Your choice!

After baby is born, do you stay?

I can stay up to 2 hours post birth where I can help with general breastfeeding support, take special photos of the new family and anything else you may need. If your baby requires neonatal support, I will stay longer with you so your birth partner can go with baby, and your are not left unsupported.
